The Tail End
This tail taper template was designed based on Highland Pipe Chanter reeds from a popular reed maker. It pairs particularly well with the HPCD shape and the PH1 template.
This template produces a ridge-cut reed with a taper length of 16 mm and a shoulder thickness of 1.4 millimeters when using the standard settings.
Ultimate Flexibility
Our Single Blade Profiling Machine is designed so that you can scrape the entire blade. First profile either the tip taper and shoulder or the tail taper and shoulder, then rotate the slip and profile the other side. You can use either the same template for the tip and tail tapers, shift the template against the tongue for a slightly longer taper, or change templates completely to have a different taper style.
