The Klopfer copy staple D12 ("B") has a length of 26 mm. This results in an oboe d’amore reed with a total length of 51–51.5 mm.
This staple delivers particularly good results with older instruments as well as instruments made in East Germany.
However, each instrument has its own characteristics. The cane and its shape also have a significant influence on the playing response of the finished reed. The best results are achieved through careful testing and experimentation.
