About the author Jörg Graf was born in Zurich in 1959 and grew up in a family of cutlers. After studying medicine, he trained as a general practitioner and now lives with his family in Stallikon, where he works as a family doctor. Besides work and family, music is a great passion. A thorough education in recorder with Walter Giannini was supplemented in his secondary school years by oboe lessons with Hans Martin Ulbrich and was pursued in parallel for many years at the Zurich Conservatory. Today, whenever his career and family allow, he dedicates himself almost exclusively to playing the oboe as a committed amateur musician, as a student of Martin Gebhardt and as a member of the camerata auletica. "We are pleased that Jörg Graf is able to pass on his knowledge of oboe reed making, which he has deepened over the years, in this publication in a concise and clear form. We would like to take this opportunity to thank the Egge-Verlag Coblenz am Rhein for printing it. May the successful guide encourage as many interested people as possible to become more active in this exciting discipline themselves".
