Our new travel mandrel fits together perfectly with our Tools To Go collection. This smaller handle is designed for musicians who travel a lot, have smaller hands, or are just looking for a smaller handle on their reed making tools. It offers space savings while still providing enough handle to have a solid grip on the tool.
Yes. The mandrel we use for the travel mandrels is based upon our universal mandrel design for the profiling machine. It will hold reeds for oboe, english horn, Viennese oboe, baroque oboe, d'amore and more.
What is the advantage of this mandrel?The handle and mandrel are intentionally short to take up as little space as possible in your tool bag, and to make travelling easier. Plus, due to its shape it can be used with a wide variety of staples. This means you do not have to find just the right mandrel to match your staples, especially if you are trying out new or different staples.
