刃研ぎ方法
リードナイフは電動の回転式研ぎ機では研がないでください。発熱により金属が痛みます。研磨オイルをご使用ください、砥石の目詰まりを防ぎます。
刃研ぎの良い角度は20~30度です。20度以下に鋭角に研いでも、切れ味は良くなりません。
1. 研磨オイルを少々砥石に塗りこんでください。オイル無しでは使用しないでください。オイルで砥石の目詰まりを防ぎます。 革砥„De Luxe“の砥石粘岩板にはオイルでは無く、水をお使い下さい。
2. 刃を20〜30度の角度で砥石の上で刃渡り全体で8の字に研いでください。両刃のナイフの場合は反対側も同じ回数で同様に研いでください。片刄ナイフの場合は斜めの部分を研いで、反対側に出るバリを取ります。
3. 刃物が消耗している場合は、研ぐのに時間がかかります。次回は刃物が消耗する前に研ぎ直すようにすると、簡単に良い切れ味に戻ります。
4. 砥石は使用後にオイルでお手入れをしてください。

How you change the battery of your digital hardness tester or dial indicator.
The battery needs to be changed when the dial is flashing, dull or the battery sign appears. The battery is covered by a lid on top of the indicator on the left side.

Open the lid with a crew driver.

Take out the battery holder carefully.

Make sure you will remember the correct position.
Hint: A photo from your smartphone will help you not forget the positioning of the battery holder and the battery.

On the battery you will find information about the type of battery used (e.g. SR44).

If possible, do not touch the new battery with your fingers. Use a piece of cloth.

When inserting the new battery be careful to not damage the contacts – the little metal parts inside.

The blades can be resharpened over and over again until they are too short for the machine. When you send your blade to us to be resharpened you will not receive exactly this blade back, but rather another which has already been resharpened. This allows for a quicker turnover as the blades can be resharpened in batches rather than individually.
Is blade resharpening also offered for Passin Gouging Machine?Unfortunately, we do not offer the blade resharpening service for Passin Gouging Machine. To achieve satisfactory gouging results again, simply order a new blade and replace it.

Since cane is a natural material, we can not always completely eliminate inaccuracies.
The gouged and shaped cane is carefully examined and checked for the correct thickness at several points using a Reeds 'n Stuff dial indicator with a tip K.
Depending on which dial indicator and tip you are using, there may be minimal variations in the measurement results.
It is also possible that the cane changes slightly after leaving our workshop, depending on the climatic conditions.

I am ordering a printed shaper, what do I need to double-check?
Ordering printed shapers is quite straightforward. Upload the STL file created by your software. Make sure the file name includes the name of the shape that you provided us.
I am ordering a metal shaper, how do I make sure it is produced correctly?
Double-check the settings in your software and the standards that we have published on the product pages. If your shape length or gouge diameter differ from our standards, make sure you have let us know in the comment field. Double-check that the file name includes the name of the shape that you provided in the order. Then upload the DXF file.
Can I update my file once it has been uploaded?
On the upload page you can change out the file as often as you like. The order is not considered complete until you have confirmed the upload. At that point the file is locked in and no more changes can be made, as we will begin production. Printed shapers generally are produced within a matter of days. Metal shapers often take longer due to the protective coating and the lengthy milling process.
Are all items ordered together with the CurvaSure in the same order shipped together?
Unfortunately, partial delivery of orders is not possible. All items in an order are shipped together. The delivery date is determined by the item with the longest delivery time.
What do the measured values indicate about the hardness?
The hardness tester measures cane hardness by pressing a pin into the cane with a constant force when the lever is moved from the right to the left side of the tester. Moving the lever releases the mechanism that drives the pin, and the dial measures how far the pin penetrates the cane. Lower readings indicate a harder cane, while higher readings indicate a softer cane because the pin penetrates further.
What is the different between European and American Gouge?
By changing the size of the blade you can change the relationship between the thickness of the center and the sides. Smaller blades result in thicker sides, where a change in blade size of about 0.10 mm results in sides that are 0.01 mm thicker or thinner.
For example: on an 11 mm gouging machine the EU standard blade side is 11.98 mm. This means that the sides of the cane are roughly 0.06 mm thinner at the sides versus the US standard.
For the rainy season, we recommend gouging the sides somewhat thinner.
On an 11 mm gouging machine the US standard blade size is 11.41 mm. This means that the sides of the cane are roughly 0.06 mm thicker at the sides versus the EU standard.
We generally recommend gouging cane with thicker sides for the winter. With the small exchange set you can effectively convert your gouger to meet seasonal conditions.
