Identical to the forming mandrel for contrabassoon, this interchangeable forming mandrel can be used with our handle and drying board. This allows the reed to be supported while drying, which optimizes the form of the tube.

Elegantly flexible

Our modular mandrel system offers full flexibility with an elegant, space-saving design. The interchangeable mandrels match our standard ones but include added benefits. Multiple handle styles with a shared vice grip insert let you use them like any other mandrel. After forming, the mandrels can be placed directly into the wood drying board base – keeping the reed on the mandrel throughout for optimal control of the tube’s shape.

You can use multiple mandrel types with a single handle, minimizing clutter. Our ejector ring is fully compatible—simply attach it, and slide it off either end once the mandrel is removed from the handle.
