Johanna Hilpert

Johanna Hilpert joined us in January 2021 to complement the technical and musical customer service here at the company. She studied the oboe and played for many years in various German orchestras. Now she is taking a new path with her position in our company. She will combine her passion for music as well as many years of expertise in reed making with her technical and craftsmanship affinity. As a musician, she knows your perspective and is very familiar with the importance of reed making. She looks forward to help you with all of your questions and the lively exchange with you on the way to your dream reeds.

What was your first impression of your new workplace?
I came here for the first time for an interview. At the time, I was quite nervous, because until then I had only known auditions, but not "real" job interviews. However, this feeling disappeared quickly during the tour of the company. Since I have been working with Reeds 'n Stuff machines for many years, I found it incredibly exciting to see how everything is produced here. In particular, I was very impressed by the large CNC milling machines in which the individual parts of the pipe construction machines are manufactured.

What does your typical working day look like?
Definitely varied, every day is different. I rarely know what tasks await me the next morning, which makes the work very interesting and I enjoy that. I advise musicians on all kind of reed making issues, adjust machines, process cane with our industrial reed making machines, work on product innovations and much more.

What do you particularly like?
The friendly atmosphere amongst my colleagues made it easy for me to feel at home here right from the start. Every day brings new and exciting tasks, but I'm never alone.

What is it like for you to come here from Berlin to the Erzgebirge?
Of course, it's something completely different here, but I feel very comfortable. It feels good to swap the hustle of the big city for the tranquility of nature for a change. I was immediately enchanted by the winter wonderland and was quickly drawn to the cross-country ski trail in the afternoons.

What are you looking forward to most in the near future?
Since I started working here in the middle of the Corona Pandemic, I'm especially looking forward to personal contact with the musicians at trade fairs, exhibitions, but also here in the company. I'm also very excited about the upcoming reed making master classes, which I hope will be possible again soon.
