Mark Chudnow is an American oboe maker who specializes primarily in accessories for reed making. He is particularly known for his innovative developments in the field of staples. His all-metal staples are a great example of this: Unlike traditional models with cork coverings, they allow more vibrations and thereby influence both the playing feel and the sound.

The gold-plated version of this staple additionally offers a slightly improved response as well as a warmer, rounder sound. The fine precious metal coating also increases corrosion resistance and ensures excellent durability. Since the gold plating adds only a minimal amount of material, the dimensions of the staple remain virtually unchanged, meaning that intonation is not affected. The tonal difference is subtle, but noticeable to many oboists in the character of the sound.

The inner bore of the Chudnow staple corresponds to the Chiarugi 2+ staple, allowing the corresponding Chiarugi 2+ mandrel to be used without any problems. In direct comparison, the Chudnow S staple has a slightly softer and more muted sound than the Chudnow E.

The Marigaux 1 SuperLeggera has exactly the same dimensions as the traditional Marigaux 1 staple, which means that the normal Marigaux 1 mandrel fits these staples too.

The Marigaux 1 SuperLeggera - like the Marigaux 2 staple - is made of a considerably thinner material. In addition, the finish ensures that the staple vibrates better when playing and the sound is warmer. This significantly improves the playing feel.

The staple is particularly suited to those oboists who like the dimensions of the Marigaux 1 staples but are looking for a lighter and more airy feel when playing.

The Marigaux 1 staple fits all Marigaux oboes and is particularly recommended for the Model 901 instrument. Due to the staples finish, it resonates better while playing and the sound is warmer.
